Amor Prohibido was a Selena Quintanilla tribute band from Brooklyn that interpreted Selena’s hits with a unique punk and rock ‘n roll edge. They celebrated Selena as a Latinx cultural icon, while also embracing intersectional narratives of immigration, queerness, feminism, and DIY punk politics. They were been featured in The Village Voice, Telemundo & Remezcla and had notable performances at The Brooklyn Academy of Music and The Whitney Museum of Art. Amor Prohibido is no longer active but amazing memories were created. Anything for Selenas!
