Started in 2013, Riot Chica is a feminist DIY underground Latinx punk party in Brooklyn that aims to center and uplift the voices of underrepresented Queer and POC artists. Highly influenced by the Riot Grrrl movement of the 90s but with a Latinx twist, it features live independent local bands, drag performances and DJs. At Riot Chica you might hear a cumbia remix of Nirvana, a Bikini Kill song followed by a bachata or a Selena song mashed up with Rihanna.
